Trust Accounts

Trust Account Structure

A Trust is a legally established entity in which assets are held by one or more trustees for the benefit of one or more beneficiaries. Interactive Brokers offers a number of different types of trusts, including bare trusts, interest in possession trusts, discretionary trusts, accumulation trusts, mixed trusts, settlor-interested trusts and non-resident trusts, though each type of trust is taxed differently.

While some types of trusts are used in many commercial arrangements, the IBUK trust account is not suitable for financial advisors, introducing brokers, managed investment schemes or hedge funds. IBUK has developed separate, tailored account types for accountholders operating financial services business of this nature as such.

The account will either be a natural person (i.e. individual) trust (if all trustees are natural persons) or a corporate trust (if all trustees are corporate or non natural persons).
